Beer Commissioner speaks on Beer Tastings and Parent/Teacher Conferences

This past weekend, the Beer Commissioner was fortunate enough to be invited to a beer tasting hosted by the Beer Buddah.  The Beer Buddah, not only is a great guy, he has a great blog, which you can read....http://thebeerbuddha.blogspot.com/.  It was a great tasting. Approximately 65 people, over a hundred different beers, great food and lots of swag.  While I didn't drink all 100 beers, I did have a good many.  Some were great, Westy #12 is most likely bottled in the Garden of Eden.  Some were so-so, and one in particular....well, let's just say, whoever decided to turn banana bread into a beer needs to have a fermenter removed from their house.  I was also fortunate enough to meet Kirk and McKenzie Coco, who are starting NOLA Brewing Company right in the Irish Channel in New Orleans.  They are super nice people, and will be distributing some wonderful beer, and I would urge everyone to drink up if they happen to see some at a tavern near them.  I certainly wish them the very best of luck with their new brewery, and hope the suds will be flowing for years to come.

Hopefully the Commish will be attending several more tastings in the future, and it looks like the Commish will be attending the Emerald Coast Beer Festival in September. Stay tuned for more info!

On another note, your Beer Commissioner attended his first ever parent/teacher conference with the little deputy today.  I wasn't really sure what I was expecting, but I had to sit in one of those little kid chairs.  I really felt like I was in trouble.  I guess we went over the normal stuff.  They showed me the little deputy's assignments, his drawings, the flash cards he rolls through.  The little deputy explained to me each of his assignments.  His teacher told me he is really advanced, and he is ready for kindergarten.  He seemed really pumped about that.  So, I'm thinking everything is rocking and rolling along. I'm day-dreaming about the full scholarship to Princeton, then the teacher shows me the little deputy's latest drawing.  It was a perfect rendering of SpongeBob Squarepants, including, a perfectly, anatomically correct penis.  Maybe I better hold back on the Princeton thing, and get the bail money ready for when he is arrested on obscenity charges, for producing a series of videos entitled SpongeBob Gone Wild.  Sigh.
