Oh Happy Day!
Now is that time of the blog, where you get to learn about the Commissioner. I'm a huge, fanatical Phillies fan. I love baseball, and I love the Phillies. I watch and/or listen to every game with very few exceptions, and that has been for the past 31 or 32 years or so.
I go to Clearwater, Florida and watch them in Spring Training. Last year I got to watch them in October. As a long suffering Phillies fan, and being as the Phillies are the losing-ist team in organized sports, watching the Phillies play in October is about as rare as Reese Witherspoon calling me up and asking me to dinner.
Well tonight there is joy in Mudville. The Fightin' Phillies posted a 6 spot in the 9th inning to defeat the much hated New York Metropolitans. The last time the Fightin' Phils posted 6 runs in the 9th inning to win, they beat Greg Maddux and the much hated Atlanta Braves (and that was some years ago--and no I did not look that up, but if I'm wrong, a 6-pack of your choosing on me).
Disclaimer--Greg Maddux was not the losing pitcher in the game, but he did pitch 8 innings of shutout ball, and if memory serves me correctly he did pitch a part of the 9th, but was chased.....when the big bats of the Fightin' Phils open up a can on the Braves.
